What is Skaffold?

Skaffold ships a minor a month and tells you nothing about any of them.

Skaffold has cut five minor releases since April — 2.19 through 2.24 — on a roughly monthly rhythm, with a short run of 2.18 patches before that. Not one entry contains release notes. Every published entry is the same block of curl commands for each platform, so the version number and the date are the only facts the feed carries.

What is Scalingo?

Scalingo adds a Valkey console to its CLI and blankets buildpack runtimes with version updates

Scalingo is shipping near-daily buildpack runtime updates across all major language stacks: Node.js 24.x and 26.x, Ruby 4.0.7, Go 1.26 and 1.27, Python tooling (Pipenv, uv, Poetry), and nginx 1.30.5. The CLI 1.49.0 adds a `valkey-console` command, signaling Valkey (the Redis open-source fork) as an actively supported database on the platform. The Java buildpack gains a 'Webapp Runner Main' flavor that strips out Memcached and Redis client libraries for leaner deployments.

Skaffold ships a minor a month and tells you nothing about any of them.

◆ Current state

Skaffold has cut five minor releases since April — 2.19 through 2.24 — on a roughly monthly rhythm, with a short run of 2.18 patches before that. Not one entry contains release notes. Every published entry is the same block of curl commands for each platform, so the version number and the date are the only facts the feed carries.

◆ Where it's heading

Cadence is the only observable signal, and it is steady: minor versions rather than patches, spaced three to five weeks apart, with patch releases appearing only in the 2.18 line. A project incrementing the minor digit every month is either shipping features or treating minors as its default increment; these entries cannot distinguish between the two.

◆ Prediction

Expect the monthly minor rhythm to continue and 2.25 to land around late August. What any release contains is not predictable from this feed — the changelog is not published in it.

Scalingo adds a Valkey console to its CLI and blankets buildpack runtimes with version updates

◆ Current state

◆ Where it's heading

Scalingo is tracking upstream runtime releases with high frequency, particularly for Node.js 26 which has been receiving rapid point releases. The Valkey console and go-scalingo SDK's MissedDatabaseMaintenance event indicate investment in database tooling and observability. The prompt library migration in the CLI (Survey → Huh) suggests housekeeping ahead of further CLI feature work.

◆ Prediction

Additional database console commands for other Scalingo-managed databases are the natural next step following `valkey-console`. The database maintenance event tracking in the SDK may surface as a user-facing maintenance window or notification feature.
