◆Current state
ToolJet has shifted its core narrative from low-code app builder to AI-powered app builder. In the past two weeks alone: MCP server packaging bundled into the EE production image, a multi-model build system with a visual model picker and effort variants, and AI build notifications wired into the canvas. The beta branch (v3.21.x) is a steady feed of component-level improvements while the LTS branch (v3.20.x) is now absorbing the AI infrastructure.
◆Where it's heading
ToolJet is building the infrastructure to make its AI builder run any model from any provider, not just OpenAI. The model catalog with effort variants (presumably mapping to cost/speed tradeoffs) and the bundled MCP server position ToolJet as a platform that AI agents can drive — not just a tool humans use to build apps. The Confluence marketplace integration points to continued enterprise integrations.
◆Prediction
The MCP server now in the EE image will likely get documented API coverage in the next 2–3 releases, making ToolJet a programmable target for external AI agents. A new Basic plan suggests pricing restructuring; look for the AI builder features to be tiered behind higher plans.
