Current state
v15.6.0 Sylvie continues the two-monthly release rhythm and is another breadth release. BLE BTHome support arrives in the bluetooth binary, Shelly Pro 2PM emulation is added for ESP32, and Matter picks up a virtual IR HVAC thermostat. Around them sit the usual mix: TLS support for the EC P-384 curve, a configurable MagicSwitch masking window that fixes false triggering, extra ESP-Now remote buttons, and Berry and HASPmota additions including an LVGL stripes widget.
Where it's heading
The direction is breadth, not depth — Tasmota's value is that whatever ESP-based device someone buys, a driver already exists, and each release extends that claim into another protocol or another vendor's hardware. Two threads are worth separating from the driver churn: the Matter surface keeps gaining virtual device types, which lets Tasmota present non-Matter hardware to a Matter controller, and the emulation work does the same trick for Shelly's ecosystem. Both are about interoperability with the platforms users already run rather than new firmware capability.
Prediction
Expect the next release in roughly two months carrying another batch of sensor drivers, and Matter virtual device types to keep expanding — thermostats now, most likely more climate and sensor profiles next. New Espressif silicon continues to be picked up within a release or two of availability.

    Another breadth release on the two-monthly rhythm: BLE BTHome support in the bluetooth binary, Shelly Pro 2PM emulation for ESP32, and a Matter virtual IR HVAC thermostat. The Matter and emulation items are the ones that matter beyond driver count, since both let Tasmota present hardware it controls to an ecosystem that would not otherwise see it.

    Tasmota v15.5.0 Sylvan

    Raises camera max resolution from 14 to 24 steps, adds fixed access-point selection by BSSID, Modbus relay and RX-enable GPIO support, and M5Stack Atom S3R drivers. Also allows multi-byte characters such as emoji in light toggle buttons.

    Tasmota v15.4.0 Sybil

    Introduces an ARCH key in device templates spanning eleven ESP variants, and redesigns the ESP8266 I2C Wire driver to support a second bus with PCA9685 and PCF8574 following. Template portability and bus capacity are the recurring constraints this release attacks.

    Tasmota v15.3.0 Susan

    Adds I/O expander, rotary encoder, RTC, air quality and FRAM support, plus SPI bus2 for Ethernet and SD card on ESP32 and Berry directory listing inside .tapp archives. Both platform toolchains were bumped.

    Tasmota v15.2.0 Stephan

    Brings ESP32-P4 rev.3 support, analogue gauges, a solar charger energy monitor, DALI DT8 RGBWAF colour control through Tasmota's light system, and ECDSA enabled by default for TLS on ESP8266. The DALI work extends reach into commercial lighting.

    Tasmota v15.1.0 Stella

    Adds support for two new Espressif parts — ESP32-P4 and ESP32-C5 — plus an ESP32 Extension Manager replacing the Partition Wizard, hardware SHA acceleration for BearSSL, and LoRaWAN decoder commands. Tracking new silicon this quickly is what keeps the firmware default on new boards.
