Nextcloud Talk Desktop is approaching Talk v25 stable while its July managed-config feature unlocks enterprise mass deployment for the first time.

◆Current state
Nextcloud Talk Desktop ships as an Electron client that tracks the Talk server closely. The stable channel is on v24, while the beta channel is tracking Talk v25 release candidates. Most releases are maintenance — dependency bumps, bug fixes, and server version bundles. The July v2.2.1 release introduced Windows GPO and macOS NSUserDefaults managed configuration, the first meaningful enterprise capability in this window.
◆Where it's heading
The v2.3 beta series signals Talk v25 is nearly ready, and the desktop client will follow. The managed configuration feature in v2.2.1 is the most significant new ground — it moves Talk Desktop from 'app users install' to 'app IT deploys,' which is a prerequisite for org-wide enterprise rollouts. If Nextcloud follows this with Intune or JAMF profile documentation, the enterprise positioning strengthens considerably.
◆Prediction
v2.3.0 stable (with Talk v25) will ship soon given v2.3.1-beta is already in RC territory. The enterprise managed-config surface will likely expand to cover more configuration keys beyond serverUrl.

    v2.2.2 - Talk v24.0.3

    A crash fix for localized-system startup failures and a Wayland toggle for switching back to the native title bar address real Linux usability gaps. Linux Wayland support has been inconsistent across Electron apps; giving users the option to revert the title bar style resolves a class of visual complaints.
