Classroom spent the year shipping Gemini; now it is wiring Classroom into Workspace's security controls.

◆Current state
Google Classroom's release notes have been a Gemini rollout for most of this window — rubric generation, Canvas sharing, mobile access, and the removal of the student age gate. The newest entry breaks that pattern: Classroom becomes a target for Context-Aware Access, so admins can gate it on identity, geography, device posture, and IP from the Admin console. Alongside it, a role-aware homepage redesign reorganizes what teachers, students, and administrators each see first.
◆Where it's heading
The product is moving from adding AI capability to making that capability administrable. Having opened Gemini to students of all ages, Google now has to answer districts on control, and Context-Aware Access is the first entry aimed squarely at IT rather than educators. Expect the admin console, not the assignment page, to carry more of the next releases.
◆Prediction
The next entries likely extend admin-side governance over Gemini in Classroom — data handling, per-OU controls, or reporting on student AI use. The homepage rollout should also finish globally, given the stated July 27 start.
