◆Current state
Fulcrum is shipping AI capabilities on two fronts: Photo FastFill (AI extraction of field data from photos, in early access) on mobile, and the new MCP + AI Toolkit Labs release that gives AI assistants like Claude and GitHub Copilot direct access to form building, choice lists, webhooks, and live data querying. The product is also in a steady mobile stabilization cycle with frequent iOS and Android point releases fixing map rendering, record loading, and photo handling.
◆Where it's heading
The MCP + AI Toolkit is the most directionally significant move Fulcrum has made. Field data collection has been a slow-to-automate market — forms are typically built manually by GIS or ops teams, inspections filled out in the field. By building an MCP server that lets AI assistants create and manage forms against Fulcrum's best practices, Fulcrum is betting that AI-assisted form and workflow configuration will become the dominant adoption path. The Toolkit layer — which teaches the AI Fulcrum idioms before it acts — is a differentiated choice over raw API access.
◆Prediction
Photo FastFill will likely exit early access and become generally available. MCP tool coverage will expand to record creation and workflow automation. Expect the Labs label to drop once the MCP tools stabilize.
