Object-based note-taking and personal knowledge management app

Capacities ships API 2.0, pivoting from self-contained PKM toward a connected AI memory layer

Current state
Capacities is a structured personal knowledge management tool shipping at monthly cadence. In the past 4 months it has added AI Chat Connectors (connecting the space to ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor), a developer-facing API 2.0, weblink reader and analysis, PDF annotations, AI image generation, and configurable AI model providers. The combination describes a product moving from self-contained PKM to a node in a broader AI-augmented knowledge graph.
Where it's heading
The consistent direction is making Capacities connectable — first via AI chat integrations, then a proper developer API, and now deeper object types and AI media generation. The new Pro+/Believer+ pricing add-ons indicate AI usage is growing enough to require metered capacity. The platform is accumulating capability surface faster than a traditional note-taking tool and faster than comparable PKM competitors.
Prediction
The most likely next move is deeper API-to-AI-connector integration, letting third-party agents create and modify Capacities objects programmatically — the existing connector work is the precondition for functioning as an AI memory layer rather than just a note store.

PDF reader view and annotations for Believers, Version History, more calendars, and AI image generation

Release 70 bundles four distinct additions: PDF reader and annotation for Believer subscribers, a version history system, CalDAV calendar support, and AI image generation. Each is a meaningful capability expansion, with PDF annotations filling a long-requested gap and CalDAV extending Capacities into scheduling workflows.

    Capacities Pro+ and Believer+

Pro+ and Believer+ add-ons give users a larger monthly AI budget with top-up capability, directly monetizing the AI usage growth driven by chat connectors and image analysis features. The add-on structure lets the team scale AI costs without raising base tier prices — a sustainable model for usage-intensive AI features.

Capacities API 2.0, Weblink Analysis, and Presentation Mode

    ⚡ SPARK

API 2.0 opens Capacities to developer integration for the first time at a meaningful level, alongside weblink analysis (AI-powered reader view) and a new presentation mode. The developer API is the most directional move Capacities has shipped — it converts a walled-garden PKM into a platform third parties can build on.

AI Chat Connectors 2.0 + Many improvements

AI Chat Connectors 2.0 lets connected AI apps (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) create pages, tasks, and arbitrary object types inside a Capacities space — not just read from it. The write capability closes the loop on AI-to-PKM integration and is the direct precursor to the API 2.0 work in release 67.
