Calendly

COMMS
Velocity5.0

Calendly now bills, invoices, and emails — the scheduling link is just the entry point.

Current state
Calendly has spent recent releases assembling a contact layer and a billing layer around the booking it started from. Contacts can be imported and exported by CSV, created automatically from Typeform and Google Forms submissions, and now emailed directly through a connected account. On the money side, invoices can be created, sent and tracked with collection through Stripe, and the PayPal integration has widened to Venmo and more card options.
Where it's heading
Calendly is assembling the pieces a solo professional would otherwise buy separately — a contact record, ways to populate it, a way to bill for time, and a channel to follow up. The form-sync work is the intake end of that: contacts now arrive from sources that have nothing to do with a booking, which is the same boundary invoicing crossed on the billing side when it let money be collected for work the calendar never touched. Each release is small and none carries the shift on its own, but the set is close to complete.
Prediction
Segmentation and templating are the obvious follow-on to outbound email, since personalized sending without lists to send to is only half a workflow. Whether invoicing gains recurring billing remains the open question these entries do not answer.

Recent moves

  1. 1mo ago

    New email capabilities for Contacts

Personalized email can now be sent from Calendly through a connected email account, which turns the contact record into something the product acts on rather than just stores. It is the follow-up half of the CRM the last several releases have been assembling, though the entry says nothing about templates, sequences, or sending limits.

  2. 1mo ago

Sync contacts from Typeform and Google Forms

Typeform and Google Forms submissions automatically create Calendly contacts, giving the contact record an intake path that does not involve a booking. It is the collection end of the same CRM build-out that CSV import started and outbound email completes — a contact system needs people in it before sending to them means anything.

  3. 2mo ago

    PayPal integration updates

PayPal now covers Venmo for eligible invitees plus wider credit and debit options. Payment-method breadth is unglamorous work, but it directly affects completion rates on the paid bookings Calendly has been building toward.

  4. 2mo ago

Create, send, and track invoices paid through Stripe

Invoices can be created, sent, and tracked in one place with collection through Stripe. This is where Calendly's payments stop depending on a booking, since an invoice can bill for work the calendar never touched — the clearest step yet toward the business suite the contact features implied.

  5. 2mo ago

Import and export contacts via CSV

Bulk CSV import and export for contacts. Unremarkable in itself, but migration paths are the precondition for anyone treating Calendly as their contact system of record rather than a scheduling side tool.

  6. 3mo ago

    Zapier integration updates

New Zapier triggers and actions for automating work around meetings. It extends reach through a third party rather than through Calendly's own automation, which is still the gap the outbound email work has begun to close directly.
