Uptrends vs Buildkite

Uptrends is a synthetic and digital experience monitoring service, and its recent releases cluster around multi-step API monitoring: bearer token authentication per API call, JWT encode and decode functions for signing and reading tokens, and a 30-second check interval for new Enterprise accounts. Around that sit account and workflow improvements — duplicable custom integrations, maintenance-period filtering by schedule attributes, SSL certificate monitors gaining the same HTTP and TLS version options as HTTPS monitors, and automatic SSO redirect at login. The August entry is a support-matrix change rather than a feature: Windows Server 2019 is no longer offered for new private location installations.

The product is being shaped around authenticated, scripted API checks rather than simple uptime pings, and the pieces arriving are the ones that make a monitor look like a real client — token signing, per-call authentication, sub-minute frequency. The second direction is outward: OpenTelemetry export lets monitoring results land in Elastic, New Relic, Splunk, Prometheus or ITRS alongside application and infrastructure telemetry, and the Terraform Hub can emit import blocks for individual resources. Both point at customers who already run an observability stack and want Uptrends inside it rather than beside it.

Expect the Enterprise tier to keep receiving the sharper capabilities first, since both the 30-second interval and OpenTelemetry export shipped that way, and expect further authentication methods for multi-step API monitors given the run from bearer tokens through JWT functions.
