Prometheus 3.14 ships OCI service discovery and start-timestamp rate extrapolation
Prometheus is in steady maintenance and incremental feature mode across two active release tracks: 3.13 LTS and 3.14 stable. The 3.14.0 release adds Oracle Cloud Infrastructure service discovery, promotes duration expressions from feature-flagged to default, and introduces an experimental start_timestamp function that enables more accurate rate extrapolation. Recent cycles have also been heavy on security dependency updates and TSDB correctness fixes — the head-chunk cache bug in 3.13.1 was a real correctness risk for range queries after compaction.

Rivet has shipped three substantive capability moves in rapid succession: BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud, letting enterprises run Rivet's control plane inside their own AWS or GCP VPCs), MCP integration (exposing Rivet Actors as a first-class tool in Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and Gemini CLI), and Dynamic Apps (a V8-isolate-based runtime for deploying AI-generated applications for end users). The histogram start-timestamp encoding feature, also experimental, suggests the team is working toward more consistent histogram behavior across the scrape lifecycle. OTLP integration continues to get hardening work — the label collision warning in 3.14 is a response to a real operational pain point for teams ingesting OTel data.
The start-timestamp rate extrapolation feature will graduate from experimental in 3.15 if community feedback is positive — it's the kind of correctness improvement that gets adoption quickly once users verify it against their own data. OTLP improvements are likely to continue as OTel adoption grows and label sanitization edge cases surface.

Rivet is building toward a single answer to a specific question: where does agent-generated, user-facing software actually run? The BYOC move unlocks regulated industries and large enterprises who can't send data to a SaaS control plane. MCP turns Rivet's Actors into something any AI client can discover and call without bespoke integration. Dynamic Apps makes Rivet the runtime, not just the infrastructure, for user-generated software. The through-line is that Rivet wants every AI agent — whether built by a developer or generated at runtime — to run on the Actors primitive with Rivet managing the lifecycle.
BYOC on AWS/GCP is the foundation; Azure support and SOC 2 certification are the logical next steps to close enterprise deals. Expect MCP to expand to more clients (OpenAI Codex, Copilot, Windsurf) as the MCP ecosystem grows, and Dynamic Apps to get versioning and rollback — the missing piece for user-facing production deployments.
